5. RELAXATION FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES IN HIGHER EDUCATION ACCORDING TO UGC
5.1 a) According to UGC notification there is 5% mark relaxation (55% to 50%) for SC/ST students in the UGC/CSIR exam.
b) Candidates seeking registration to the Ph.D Programme shall hold a Masters Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination, or a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale (or an equivalent grade in a similar scale). A candidate belonging to SC/ST community shall be or concession up to 10% marks in the minimum eligible marks for admission.

5.2 Mark Relaxation in Direct Recruitment of Teaching Position in University/College Level.
As per UGC regulations and as per clarification order No.G.O. (MS)No.81/2010/Fin.Dated,20.02.2010, there is 5% marks relaxation on minimum qualifications for the appointment of teaching positions in various Universities and Colleges at the Masters Degree level for the SC/ST/Differentially-abled(physically & visually handicapped) categories for the purpose of eligibility during direct recruitment to teaching positions. 5.3 Relaxation for SC/ST Category Candidates According to All India Council of Technical Education(AICTE).
According to AICTE, the clarification order No. F.No. FD/ PSSC/clarif/2002/1, dated 03.01.2003 (item no.9) it is stated that “there is no separate notification of AICTE on this issue. It should be as per the rules of the concerned State Government and as per the rules of Central Government for centrally funded Institutes”.
